Overview

Class 1: Skin Care Basics

Thursday May 15, 6-8pm (Online)

In the intro class we will review anatomy and physiology of your skin — the largest organ in the body! We will discuss what are factors make some people’s skin more sensitive or cause problems and how our diet, lifestyle and herb choices can effect our skin. Walk away with an action plan, and get excited to try out the ideas of this class in the following Skin Care Skills sessions.

Please note, this class will be held online via Zoom. It can be taken separately or as part of the Skin Care Skills package.

Class 2: Serum Solutions
Nourishing Oils for All Skin Types

Is oil good or bad for the skin? In this class we will demystify any confusion about how to take care of the skin and discuss ways to reduce scarring, the effects of aging and clear up rashes or breakouts. Through a sensory hand-on (nose-on?) workshop, participants will learn to blend their own 1oz nourishing serums for radiant skin health. Also includes a primer on aromatherapy.
Class 3: Flower Water
Hydrosol for Radiant Skin

Hydrosol is skin care’s best kept secret. Made through a process of distillation, it is a process of removing the water and aromatic scent from plant matter to produce healing water. A staple of aromatherapy and holistic skin care routines, hydrosols are often the missing link to well nourished skin. Learn to make the magic flower water, get hands-on experience and take home a few ounces of this honey water.
Class 4: Making Creme
Crafting Your Skin Solution

In the final class of the series, we put all our knowledge together to craft creme! We will use our newly acquired wisdom to whip together a creme designed to tackle our skin’s most tricky spots. Making creme can be a messy task, and this class is sure to be full of laughter and ease as we close out Skin Care Skills on a high note.

FAQs
Will the online class be recorded?
Yes! I will record Class 1: Skin Care Basics and it will be available to watch for at least 1 year. If you miss it, or want to review a topic, you can tune in for the replay, emailed out within 24-48 hours from the live class.
Can my kid join the workshop?
The in person workshops are best for people who can sustain their attention for up to 45 minutes. For this reason, we welcome adults and teens with a genuine interest in the process and ask all other folks to join us for another offering. See Bonnie Rose’s upcoming events calendar here.

To be notified of upcoming classes and herbal offerings, join my newsletter Whale Mail, offered every whale Wednesday.

Is the space ADA accessible?
Yes!
I’m scent-sensitive, would this workshop be ok for me?
It certainly depends on you and your scent-sensitivities. We will be working with all-natural plant scents. For people who have trouble with synthetic scents, we don’t expect any issues for you. Hydrosols are more gentle when it comes to scent, so no heavy-handed smells will be generated in the workshop. Definitely reach out if you have any other questions here.
For the in person workshops, do I need to bring anything?
Not really, if you’re someone who likes to take notes you can bring a small notebook or plan a place to take notes on your phone or other device.

We will be outside! And we are in SF after all, so its usually wise to pack an extra layer, wear sunblock and have a sun hat (or beanie, or both!) in your bag just in case (from an herbalist's perspective)
